Devlog 09: Production

The past couple weeks I've been working on creating audio and implementing it into the game.  We had a group discussion on priorities for the next playtest and decided that it would be more worth it if I were to focus on making another music track rather than finish my voice lines.  The voice lines were originally planned to be finished first but we thought it would be a good idea to test and was something we would actually be able to add in the game.  We would not have been able to implement the voice lines as there was no existing code to hook them up to.  When creating the music I got to blow into my mic and process it, so that was fun.  Both Neutral and Cold music have it. (:

The sound effects I was able to get in include:

- Bug sounds, which came from my vacation last summer.

- Footstep sounds.

- Pickup sounds, which are Minecraft inspired and are made out of me opening a jar of BBQ sauce with a pair of vice grips because I have no grip strength. (:  This sound is pitched to give variation.

We did a lot of collaborative programming which was very helpful.  When one of us got stuck, the other was able to offer a suggestion that would help the other.  While coding progress was a little bit slower talking to one another, it was more efficient in the long run as problems were solved much faster.  We discussed and rearranged the Audio Manager code to function better for the purposes of our game and then I put all audio sources into different mixer groups to make them louder.  I learned that what you hear in the editor is MUCH quieter than in a build.
